Listen to Thousands of Radio Stations from Around the World With Clear Reception - No Static, No Fade, No Apps

The CC WiFi-3 is remarkable for listening to a clear signal from your favorite station. With the vast selection of over 25,000 stations on the new CC WiFi 3 you can be assured you will discover radio shows you love. You can go to Skytune.net, click on the "Radio" header to be sure they carry your favorite station or host.

The CC Wifi-3 has a much quicker command response time than our previous models since the processor is faster. It comes with a 5 volt AC adapter and an included power cord that can be connected to a USB port for power. The WiFi receiving range is the best we have tested because of the included 5dBi external antenna. If your location is still too far away then our long distance Parabolic Power Antenna may be the solution. It is available below at an additional cost.

Audio is great for a full voice with clarity. If you would like superior audio for music, the CC WiFi 3 has a line-out which can be used for remarkable results with an amplified speaker system. The radio has an adjustable equalizer (Line Out and Headphone) for advance users centered at 105, 300, 850, 2400 and 6800 Hz plus an adjustable 3D setting for depth. Settings can be adjusted to your ear. Audio from the Line Out is equal to or better than any other WiFi radio we have tested.

Additional features include a sleep timer, alarm, and adjustable backlight. Runs on 5V AC adapter (included).

Weight: 1 lb. 2.6 oz. Size: 6.5" W x 3.9" H x 3.9" D.

Features:
  • It is a luxury to have an excellent audio source separate from your cell phone... plus it has a remote control!
  • Low cost, much less expensive than a year of satellite radio and no monthly fee
  • The display does scroll the song title and group if this information is provided by the stream. The screen is not capable of displaying advertising... and nobody tracks who you are
  • C. Crane includes a long range external antenna for longer distance WiFi reception
  • Bluetooth receiving so you can send audio from your smartphone or tablet to the radio
  • Presets: First 10 using the remote buttons, 100+ in sequence list.
  • Large sized remote control gives quick access to your preset stations
  • You can go to Skytune.net, click on the "Radio" header to be sure they carry your favorite station or host
  • You can add your own favorite stations by submitting a valid URL to Skytune.net
  • C. Crane's US-based technical support can help you with any questions about the operation of the CC WiFi-3
  • 1 Year Limited Parts & Labor Warranty
  • Please Note: The CC WIFi 3 does not come with an ethernet port

Need Long Range Reception for your CC WiFi 3?

Music Tip:

If you are primarily a music listener, you might consider an amplified speaker system. There are hundreds to choose from. Consider a separate bass speaker with tweeters if you like full bass response. We can recommend the Logitech Z625 2.1 Speaker System at under $150.00 which worked remarkably well for the price but it’s not perfect. Bass can be adjusted for voice clarity.

Higher end audio is a function of your likes and cost. You probably know that the cost can go up dramatically for better systems so it’s good to set a budget ahead of time. Visiting your local stereo store is sometimes the best way to find a system you like

Terms of Service:
  • Skytune only plays on a Skytune-enabled radio. It is not accessible from your cellphone but most stations are available from other stream sources using your phone by using apps.
  • C. Crane has no control over content or the stream provider and cannot be responsible for Internet radio programs or availability.
  • If Skytune goes down, you will lose service. Anticipating this, we made sure you can put the URL of a station into the radio and continue listening to your radio. This feature does require a computer and technical knowledge. Finding the URL of a streaming station for this purpose is sometimes difficult or impossible as they change it each time it is accessed.

How do I silence the alarm?

The alarm can be silenced or snoozed. To silence the alarm, press and release the power button. To snooze the alarm, press and release the dial. If snoozed, the alarm will play again after 10 minutes.

What are the maximum number of stations that can be stored in the History menu?

Network Questions

Where can I find my router name (ESSID) and wireless encryption key?

Try looking on the underside of your wireless router or wireless modem. Sometimes they are printed on a label affixed to the bottom. Also check your documents for a piece of paper that was printed out after the router was initially set up.

Can I connect the CC WiFi 3 Internet Radio wired to my router using an Ethernet cable?

No. This radio can only connect wirelessly to your WiFi router.

Can I connect to WiFi networks that require agreeing to a user license agreement and/or a username and a password?

No. Many hotels, hospitals and airports are adding on a user license agreement that you must accept in order to access the Internet using their WiFi networks. Some even require a username and password for this access. The radio has no way of displaying these webpages or accepting such agreements so it will not work in these situations.

Can my CC WiFi 3 connect to a 5Ghz WiFi router or a Mobile Hotspot?

No. The radio will only connect to WiFi routers or Hotspots that use 2.4Ghz. Most iPhones are setup to broadcast the Personal Hotspot WiFi as a 5 GHz network and not as a 2.4 GHz network. It may be necessary to go into the iPhone settings for the Personal Hotspot and turn on the Maximize Compatibility.

Can I connect to a WiFi network that has the Network SSID hidden?

Technically, no. However, there is a workaround:

  1. Temporarily disable the hidden SSID feature in your WiFi routers settings.
  2. Using the radio Network settings, scan and select the unhidden network, and enter the password.
  3. After the Internet radio has successfully connected to the WiFi router, you can enable the hidden network SSID in the WiFi routers settings.
  4. The Internet radio will automatically connect to the WiFi router when powered on.

Preset Questions

When I hold the Preset button in for 3 seconds it doesn’t assign my station to Preset #1 or the number I want it to be stored. Why?

To store presets for 1-9 and 0 for 10, you will need to use the remote control and the number that you want to assign the station to.

I try to connect to a preset and it shows Out Of Memory?

Try unplugging the power to the radio for 15 seconds. Then plug the power back in and wait for 30 seconds. Try connecting to one of your presets.

Is it possible to delete or move stations in the Preset menu?

Yes.

  1. From the Home menu, select My Presets on the radio or press the (presets) button using the remote-control
  2. Rotate the dial on the radio or use the remote-control Arrow UP or DOWN to navigate to the station that you want to delete or to move
  3. Press and release the ALARM button on the radio or use the remote-control RIGHT arrow. Menu will show:
    • “Move down”
    • “Move up”
    • “Delete”
    • “Move to top”
    • “Move to bottom”
  4. Press and release the Dial/Select on the radio or the OK button on the remote control to select one of the options. Once you select the option to delete, it cannot be undone.

Is it possible to Skip forward or backward with my stations in My Presets?

Yes.

  1. Select the menu for My Presets.
  2. Select a station and wait until it connects and plays.
  3. To go forward to the next station, press and release the Alarm button on the radio or the button on the remote-control.
  4. To go backward to the prior station, press and release the EQ button on the radio or the button on the remote-control.

Streaming Questions

Will the CC WiFi 3 Internet Radio connect to Pandora, Spotify, Slacker, Sirius XM, and other streaming services?

No. Our CC WiFi 3 Internet Radio does not offer other streaming services. This radio connects to Skytune.net which does not offer other streaming services.

Can I listen to Major League Baseball on the CC WiFi 3 Internet Radio?

No, due to licensing rules major league baseball games are typically not permitted to be broadcast on a radio stations internet stream. The same would be true of NBA, NFL, and NHL games.

I have the CC WiFi 3 Internet radio and enjoy listening to MSNBC or another specific station. Why does the audio go quiet when certain commercials begin but it doesn’t happen on all the stations I listen to?

Certain radio stations use a service called geotargeting. This is a marketing strategy for online marketers to deliver specific commercials to specific listeners based on their detected location. Your IP address may reveal location information to these marketers such as country, state, city, etc. and in some cases even which ISP (internet service provider) you are using. If you are in an area that the radio station does not recognize, the stream will stay connected, however the audio will go silent until the commercial break ends. Please continue listening for a few minutes and the station audio should resume.

C. Crane has no control over content or the stream provider and cannot be responsible for Internet radio programs or availability.

Why do I get ERROR #7 after connecting my radio to WiFi and then selecting "Internet Radio Stations"?

Although there are a few different possibilities for this error message, your radio may need to receive a firmware update for better router communication. The next time you receive the error message, don't touch the radio for 1 minute as it may need some time to access the firmware upgrade. If this doesn't work, then you might try using another WiFi connection (temporarily) to receive the firmware update on your radio. Thereafter you may return to your previous WiFi connection see if that resolves the issue. Alternatively you can always contact C. Crane customer service for further assistance and support.

How do I reset the WiFi 3 Internet Radio back to factory defaults?

  1. Press and release the HOME button
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select Reset to default
  4. Select Yes

Is there a port for an external WiFi antenna?

Yes. The radio includes a removable 5dBi WiFi Antenna with an RPSMA connector that can be replaced with a stronger gain WiFi Antenna. If you have a distant shop or garage, our Parabolic antenna with a 10' cable can deliver a signal to your CC WiFi 3 up to 400' away, provided there are no obstructions, and your router is in a favorable position. See this product at https://ccrane.com/parabolic-power-antenna/.

Is the remote control for the CC WiFi 3 Internet Radio IR or RF?

The remote control is IR. The remote will need to be pointed at the radio sensor (located to the lower right of the center knob) since it is IR and not RF.

Does the CC WiFi 3 Internet radio have a memory backup and if so, for how long and what settings will it retain?

Yes, the radio uses non-volatile memory which means all settings and presets will be retained indefinitely even if the power is interrupted.

Does the CC WiFi 3 Internet Radio have a timer function for the radio to turn on and turn off at a specific time to record on a recording device like the Versaorder or CC Witness Plus?

Yes, up to 3 hours by using the Alarm 1 or Alarm 2 function.

I turn my radio on before going to bed and when I wake up in the morning my radio has shut off by itself. What causes this?

Possibly an alarm is set. Make sure the alarm settings for Alarm #1 and Alarm #2 are set to OFF.

Press and hold the Alarm button in for 3 seconds until you see Alarm #1 and Alarm #2.

My WiFi radio is displaying a language other than English. How do I change it?

  1. Turn the radio on.
  2. Press and release the Home button.
  3. Turn the Dial/Select knob to the left one click.
  4. Press and release the Dial/Select knob.
  5. Turn the Dial/Select to the right two clicks.
  6. Press and release the Dial/Select knob.
  7. Turn the Dial/Select until the white arrow is next to the appropriate language.
  8. Press and release the Dial/Select knob.

My radio is connected to WiFi but it intermittently drops out while playing a station. Why?

This could be due to the signal between the radio and the router being too weak or too much interference. Check to make sure the 5dBi WiFi antenna (included with the radio) is attached completely to the back of the radio. You may want to detach and reattach it.
