Now Hiring: Warehouse & Maintenance Support Specialist

Overview

Are you someone who likes to stay busy, is active and likes to do different things every day? Do you like fixing things, have a passion for distribution, shipping and receiving, or picking and packing? Are you reliable, hard-working, with excellent attendance who can lift 50 lbs., or heavier, on a regular basis? If you answered yes to these questions, read on.

C. Crane is looking for a Full-time Warehouse & Maintenance Support Specialist who will be responsible for keeping the building and grounds clean, upkept, and maintained to provide a welcoming environment for customers and team members. You will also participate in all day-to-day warehouse operations and activities including but not limited to shipping and receiving, receiving returned merchandise, testing products, and more in a fast-paced environment. Ideally, we are looking for someone who has some warehouse and maintenance experience; however, we are willing to train the right candidate who has a passion for serving our customers, learning, and gaining new skillsets. We have excellent starting documentation and training.

At C. Crane, we design and manufacture long range radios, WiFi Antenna systems and much more. We craft our products with excellence to bring our customers’ joy. We are a unique and niche company located in Fortuna, CA selling our products through an annual catalog, ecommerce store and many marketplaces not only in the U.S. but worldwide.

With every job, there’s some good news and some bad news…

Let’s get the bad news out of the way first:

  • C. Crane is a retail business, so our busiest time of the year is October, November, December, and January; because of this, you may have to work during a holiday, and we don’t normally allow vacation during these months.
  • We are a small company, and at times, we get to wear many hats. You may be asked to complete tasks or projects unique to the company. If you’re looking for a job that is tightly departmentalized or less cross-team collaborative, then this may not be a good fit.
  • This is not a sit-down desk job. In this position you must be able to stand for 8 hours a day with repetitive lifting and bending motions.

Now let’s talk about the good stuff:

  • One of the best things about this position is the number of various jobs and tasks you’ll get to do. You’ll never be bored and each day you will learn something new. You’ll have to do some repetitive work, but you will have the opportunity to problem solve and flex your creativity with many projects and tasks.
  • We don’t want to micromanage you. While we expect you to work efficiently and get things done, we focus on open communication, meeting deadlines, and accuracy.
  • You are a part of a supportive team. We are all about teamwork and we believe we are all stronger as a team. We give you the support, training and help you need. You will be working directly with our Warehouse Lead.

Let’s discuss the job requirements:

  • You Like to Stay Busy & Are Self Motivated. There will be times when you’ll have some downtime, however, we are looking for someone who is self-motivated and will find other tasks/work to do or you’ll check in with the Warehouse Lead for additional work to do. You’re the person who will grab a duster or broom and start cleaning or take out the trash without being told to do so. At C. Crane there is always work to do.
  • You’re Handy and aren’t Afraid to Get Dirty. You will be responsible for putting furniture together, cleaning the gutters, removing spider webs from the building, keeping the company grounds clean, and more, rain or shine. To do this job, you can’t be afraid of spiders, and you must be ok with working in the cold from time to time.
  • You must be comfortable with Microsoft applications such as Word & Excel, Software & Computer Use. We use multiple platforms for order entry, customer correspondence and task management.
  • You are organized, accurate and detailed with your work. You will take the time, and take pride when packing customer and marketplace orders, receiving products in, testing the products and cleaning products thoroughly for resell. You will stack products in the warehouse in an organized manner not just for efficiency but for safety as well.
  • You must be comfortable with Tech and Willing to Learn You will learn how to set up and test WiFi antenna systems, radios, and other electronics before they ship to customers. You will also learn basic repairs and must have the ability to troubleshoot to determine any defects in the products.

Some specific things you’ll get to do:

  • Pick, Pack and Print labels for Customer, Wholesale and Marketplace Orders and ensure they are shipped accurately and in a timely manner
  • Open return packages as they arrive
  • Check in returned merchandise and log in repairs
  • Use hand tools and test equipment
  • Ensure that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a friendly, pro-active work environment
  • Pack and Ship International Orders
  • Program custom WiFi Systems
  • Quality Control
  • Extensive Wi-Fi testing
  • Assist in all Inventory Processes
  • Print and or Create Special Shipping Labels
  • Stock Workstation
  • Help load/unload shipments
  • Operate Power Industrial Truck
  • Ability to use and understand third party shipping programs
  • Learn about shipping carriers, boxes, and warehousing

What we don’t expect is for you to know how to do all the above, for you to qualify for this job. We don’t really care if you know how to use ShipStation, Clickup, Brightpearl or Loom yet (although that’s a plus), we can teach you that and other things. Again, we expect a passion for service.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday from 8:10am – 5:10pm.
  • Starting pay is $16.50 an hour. Pay Scale is $16.50 per hour - $18.50 per hour.
  • Benefits for full-time employees include paid vacation and holidays. After completion of the waiting period, medical insurance and elective supplementary insurances are available along with participation in C. Crane’s SIMPLE IRA plan.

C. Crane is looking for a Full-time Customer Support Specialist who will be responsible for providing world-class customer service via phone, email and in person. Ideally, we are looking for someone who has some customer service or retail experience; however, we are willing to train the right candidate who has a passion for service. We have excellent starting documentation and training.

Purpose

In this position, you will serve as a guide by ensuring the highest level of customer service with the emphasis on product support in the use, selection and troubleshooting via telephone, email, written correspondence and in person for all C. Crane products.

  • You need to be a person who loves to deliver remarkable experiences and serve other people. You exude confidence and warmth, not because it’s a great way to establish rapport, but because that’s just who you are!
  • Good Listening Skills Are A Must. You must have the ability to actively listen to customers and be able to offer the best product recommendation based on their needs; or if you’re handling a complaint, you need to be able to provide appropriate solutions.
  • You must be comfortable with Microsoft applications such as Word & Excel, Software & Computer Use. We use multiple platforms for order entry, customer correspondence and task management.
  • You need to be a solution-based thinker. We won’t always have the product a customer is looking for, but you go above and beyond to do some research and point them in the right direction even if it means recommending a product or service from another company.
  • Being detailed is a must to accurately take orders and keep records of customer interactions.
  • You can communicate effectively in many ways. You need to be able to communicate effectively with customers across multiple channels including phone and email.
  • You Love to Be Part of a Team. You are at the frontline collecting customer feedback whether it’s related to the products or the marketing messaging. Providing customer feedback to our product development and marketing team is an essential part of business growth.
  • You love to document. You understand that documentation makes everyone’s lives easier (including future you). You like spending a little more time up front to create documentation that will allow the company to grow and scale effectively.
  • Troubleshooting. We do a lot of troubleshooting over the phone and email, so being attentive is important to help customers. However, you are not expected to have knowledge of troubleshooting products at the start of employment. We have great trainers and documentation so after a few months of employment, you will be able to troubleshoot.

Some specific things you’ll get to do:

  • Enter customer orders for merchandise and catalog requests received via the phone, mail, showroom, or internet as needed.
  • Provide C. Crane customers support in product use, selection and troubleshooting via the phone, email, or written correspondence.
  • Resolve customer questions or problems via telephone, email or written correspondence in a manner that is beneficial and mutually agreed upon by both the customer and C. Crane Company.
  • Ensure that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a friendly, pro-active work environment.
  • Respond to customer inquiries via email, letters and phone.
  • Assist showroom customers and complete sales.
