Longer Range than the average WiFi Extender - 2.4 GHz.

The Long Range Super USB WiFi Antenna 3 can be the best WiFi solution for home, mobile, RV, student and travel. It plugs into your PC computer's USB port for a powerful WiFi Internet reception. On average you can get 300 to 400 feet even through several walls. Performance: Most people can watch Netflix in HD quality with the Super USB 3 in an average situation. In an extreme line-of-sight test with no obstructions we connected to a network one mile away but speed was significantly reduced.

The Super USB 3 is best suited in a less WiFi crowded area as might be found in the country for a guest house, barn, end of a road or large home. The USB-3 uses 2.4 GHz which is longer range than other bands. (In a WIFI crowded "city" type area 5 GHz is usually a better choice). You can use the 2.4 GHz CC Vector "Extended" Long Range WIFI Repeater System in a WiFi congested area because the narrow beam antenna is not as susceptible to interference.

Features
  • Uses 2.4 GHz for longer range than 5 GHz
  • Installation is usually straight forward but if you have a question or a problem please call C. Crane! Be sure you have your WiFi password!
  • Antenna and 15' cable can be mounted up high, in window or outside for a better connection to a host router or Free Hotspot
  • Low Noise Amplifier for faster throughput and longer range
  • Indoor Outdoor Water Resistant Design (IP65 Rated)
  • Suction cups for window mount included or eye hole for your fastener
  • Includes 15' USB Split Cable for no power loss with weak USB ports
  • 802.11 B, G, and N. Up to 150 Mbps. WEP, WPA, WPA2, WPS encryption compatible
  • Works with Microsoft Windows XP to Windows 10. CD included for driver installation or can be downloaded.
  • If you want to use multiple devices we recommend a CC Vector system.

My computer is not showing that the antenna is plugged in. What is wrong?

Check the connection between the antenna and the cable is fully pushed in and connected. If only one USB port is available, make sure to use the main USB cable connector, not the optional Power Boost connector (single loose connector).

Can I use the antenna with my iPad or iPhone to increase my WiFi reception?

No. But you can consider a CC Vector model. The Super USB WiFi Antenna 3 requires installation of software drivers. The iPad® and iPhone® are not capable of installing software drivers.

Will the Super USB WiFi Antenna 3 work with Windows© 10 and 8?

Yes it will. In most cases all you have to do is plug in the antenna to your computer using the supplied cable and Windows© 10 will install the device. The drivers for the antenna are bundled in with the Windows© 10 operating system. With Windows® 8, it will install the device. In some rare cases you will need to be near a hot spot for Windows® 8 to locate the drivers. The drivers on the CD will work but the software will not auto-run when the CD is inserted (you may have to manually start the CD). The drivers are on the page for the antenna under the "downloads" tab for future reference should you need them.

I purchased the USB WiFi Antenna and when it is hooked up it does not improve my WiFi reception. Is there something I can do to make it work better?

Be sure that the antenna is positioned vertically in the center of a window facing toward the host router. If the WiFi source is in another building you can try mounting the antenna outside and high up. You may be able to use the optional 30ft accessory cable to bring the antenna element up higher and directly toward the router. Please consult the Assembly Guide (or Tips section of the Quick Start Guide) for weather proofing instructions.

Do I need to use the Ralink WLAN Utility supplied with this antenna?

No, installing the "Driver Only" is the easiest way to use your antenna. We recommend that only advanced users and Windows 2000 users install the Ralink WLAN Utility. For more assistance using the Ralink WLAN Utility, refer to the full user manual on the supplied CD.

This antenna claims to boost WiFi up to 1 mile. How was this tested?

If you have a question or need help we can help you install it with you step by step over the phone. Windows 10 computers already have the software drivers installed so you do not need the CD. If needed, it is fairly easy to install the software drivers using the included CD. Gaming stations such as the Xbox® and the Sony PlayStation®, the iPad®, iPhone® and Android® devices are not capable of installing these software drivers. Check out the CC Vector WiFi antennas for this situation.

Can I use a passive USB extension cable to add on to the existing length of the cable that came with the Super USB WiFi Antenna?

No, the Super USB WiFi Antenna should not be connected to an additional passive USB extension cable. Please use the 15ft USB cable that came with the antenna or replace it by purchasing an optional 30ft USB cable. It is not recommended to exceed the 30ft USB cable, as it will degrade the signal.

My computer has an internal WiFi antenna; is it necessary to disable it before installing the software and the Super USB WiFi Antenna?

It is not required, but it is recommended. If both WiFi connections are going at the same time, it will require more power from your computer and create extra heat. Usually there is a button, switch, or key on a laptop that disables the built-in WiFi device.

How much power does it have?

Virtually all WiFi antennas including all routers and repeaters are legally limited to 1 Watt of power. The type of antenna, location and the quality of the amplifier is what can give a WiFi antenna longer range.

Where and how is the best place to mount the antenna?

Mounting it with the included suction cups in a window facing the host router is usually a good place. It does not matter if the front or back faces the window. If you still have weak WiFi then try it outdoors mounting it as high as convenient while maintaining safety.

Which side (front or back) faces the window when using the suction cups?

It's up to you. The Super USB Wi-Fi Antenna is Omni-directional, and so it can receive the signal from any direction.

My software shows that the antenna is connected but when I try to use my internet browser I am unable to view anything. What should I do?

You may not have a strong enough WiFi connection. Successful connection to a wireless network usually requires a minimum of 2 bars of signal. If the signal is low, you can try relocating or repositioning the antenna with a better line-of-sight view to the WiFi source; or the wireless network does not offer internet service; or a firewall/virus protection is preventing access.

What does IP65 stand for?

IP followed by two numbers are protection ratings that are applied to indicate how well an enclosure protects against water, dust, oil, or other ingress. These ratings were established by the International Electro Technical Commission. IP itself stands for Ingress Protection. The first number being a 6 means: Totally protected against dust ingress. The second number being a 5 means: Protected against low pressure water jets from any direction. Limited ingress permitted. In layman's terms it means the product is dust proof and water resistant.

Why are there two USB input connectors on this antenna cable? If I can only use one on my computer which one do I use?

One USB connector is for power and data transfer, the other is for a boost to power. You will want to use the power and data USB connector which is the one with two cables attached to it.

I am planning on using the Super USB WiFi Antenna 3 on a boat. Is there anything extra I should consider?

We recommend that you use Coax Seal to protect the antenna connection from heavy salt water corrosion.

I have Windows 7/Vista and inserted the software CD. I clicked on "Run Autorun.exe" but nothing is happening.

Check the bottom Task Bar area for a security shield or message that is asking permission to install the software. Also, if your computer has a third party Firewall or Virus protection installed, you may have to disable it. Please read the manufacturer's instruction manual.

What do the blue and red lights on the antenna mean?

The flashing blue light means the antenna is getting power and the intermittent red light means the antenna is communicating with the computer. When both lights are on solid, it means that the antenna is not functioning properly. Reasons for this are commonly related to missing drivers or issues with the USB cable. Make sure you are using the correct drivers and that the cable is inserted snugly into the jacks on both ends.

Is it better than an inexpensive plug-in repeater?

Yes, but if a simple and less expensive repeater works well then you do not need a Super USB 3 or CC Vector WiFi antenna system. When needed, a Super USB 3 or CC Vector WiFi antenna system can save you the cost of adding a new wireless service to a different location.

I recently upgraded my computer to Windows 10 and connected antenna with the USB cable but it is not recognized or showing after installing software drivers. What can I do?

  1. Plug the USB WiFi Antenna and cable into your computer's USB port.
  2. Right click on the Windows Start Icon.
  3. Left click on Device Manager.
  4. Select Network adapter to expand to show the adapters listed below the title.
  5. Right click on "802.11n USB Wireless Lan Card......".
  6. Left click on Uninstall.
  7. Check the box "Remove all drivers".
  8. Click Okay.
  9. Unplug the antenna's USB cable from your computer.
  10. Restart your computer.
  11. Plug antenna's USB cable back into your computer's USB port and it should install automatically without the need to install any software or drivers.
Windows 10 does not show both Internal and External WiFi when clicking on the WiFi icon like Windows 7 and 8.
  1. Left click the WiFi Setting icon at the bottom right of the desktop.
  2. Look at the top of the list for the word "WiFi".
  3. Left click the drop down arrow to the right side.
  4. Left click on the word Wi-Fi with a number such as WiFi-2. You should now see networks that our device is receiving.
